How do you say vlog? (There is a debate, but we sit on the vvvlawg…not veeeelog…side of that argument.)

Welcome to Vlog Day!

Vlog Day is one day on which everyone posts a video blog entry on their own blogs, and this Vlog Day topic is going to be simple:

Introduce Yourself!

That’s it! Let’s all get to know one another. We’ve added about 10,000 new members in the last year and it’s about time we started to get to know each other. You’d be amazed at how much more human it feels to see one another on video.

How To Participate

Official Vlog Day is next Wednesday…

June 8th, 2011.

Post your video then. Include this before or after the post:

Then post your video link in the comments of this post.

You can add your video to our Vimeo Group if you use Vimeo (YouTube got rid of Groups!).

For the rest of this week and next week we’ll be showing you a video each day (here on the blog) from some of our staff members so you can see different takes on the subject, and so you don’t feel any apprehension about looking ridiculous in front of camera:)

Sounds cool. I just need to figure out how to record with my webcam (I've only used it for video chatting until now). And figure out how to upload and post and all that technical stuff! I probably need a crash course...if I don't figure it out this week, I'll definitely try and keep on the lookout for future vlog days :) I look forward to seeing everyone's videos!

m_aluotto25 You're having difficulties too? I have no idea how to turn on the webcam and record. I'm pretty sure I can upload it, but the whole filming bit eludes me. Maybe we should google it or something. I'm half expecting to get it somewhat recording but without picture or maybe with choppy sound. If I do figure it out, I'll probably have the most worthless one. But it's something. I hope you figure it out! Then you can tell me! =D

I have a logitech webcam and when I click on it, there's a "quick capture" section where you can simply hit record for video. That part I managed, but then I went to put it in Blogger by clicking on the "add video" icon. It said it was uploading but it stayed like that for hours and wouldn't finish. My video is only 2 1/2 minutes so I don't know what's wrong with it. I don't know if these things have to have a certain extension to work or what. I just browsed to where the file saved on my computer automatically and for some reason it's not working. Harpist2001

m_aluotto25 Oh, that sounds so irritating! Mine's a MacBook Air built in webcam. I tried googling it but they didn't help much. So I finally had an intelligent thought, opened up the user manual and figured it out that way. I can now record video, but it won't record for more than 2 minutes. I have to record choppy snippets and piece-meal them together. I still have to figure out how to upload it and all. All I know is, my vlog is going to suck. I'm afraid to try uploading it to my blog, so I'm doing it via YouTube and then posting the link. I'll link to my blog in the video description. Maybe you should try that way? I really do hope it all works out for you. It wouldn't be fair that you'd have to sit this out because the computer chose not to work properly. Best of luck to you!
