Look Good, Do Good: Tank Top and Scarf Giveaway from Kavalena

by Renee on June 25, 2012

Kavalena is offering one of their tank tops (valued at $20) and one of their scarves (valued at $12-$15)!  There will one winner who receives both items, and he or she can pick which colour tank and which design of scarf they’d like to receive.

This giveaway will ship to any 20SB member in Canada or the US.

To enter this giveaway, comment on this post telling us about a cause or non-profit you care about by Friday, June 29 at 11:59 CST. The winner will be chosen using random.org and will be announced on Saturday!

We also wanted to highlight some great aspects of the work Kavalena does. All clothes are made in fair working conditions and they work with several non-profits to provide a day of food, an hour of clean water, a day of school, an hour of therapy for orphans with cerebral palsy and autism, and an hour of after care for a rescued victim of human trafficking for each item of clothing purchased. We think that’s pretty amazing! To read more about their mission and how it all works, click here.

Thanks, Kavalena, for the great non-profit work that you do and for helping 20SB celebrate its 5th birthday!

Note: Only 20sb members are eligible to win the giveaway.

I love Adam Bouska’s NOH8 photography campaign. I love the quality of the photos, yes, and I love the way those photos bring together people in support of marriage equality.

My favorite would have to be Special Olympics of Maryland. Each year they host a polar bear plunge where you raise money and then jump into the freezing cold bay in January and I have done it many times! They are amazing and the athletes are are so thankful because this one event  helps them out for the whole year.

There are so many organizations and causes that I love, but nothing is more important currently in my world than marriage equality.  It just hurts my soul to see so many people without the same basic right I get to exercise.

The Tweet Drive campaign is so close to my heart these days.

I can’t pick just one cause or nonprofit, but marriage equality is definitely at the top of my list.

I like to give to Doctors without Borders and to medical research. I know the people they help won’t get help without us.

Since I have a friend who works for them, I often support Playworks, a nonprofit that reduces playground bullying and conflicts and improves school climate through fun, healthy, inclusive games and physical activity.

I care about the research that’s being conducted for children with autism, like Autism Speaks.

A cause I’m a huge supporter of – mostly local Bay Area organizations who make a difference in the community. SF Food Bank is one of them. Project Open Hand is another.

I’m a huge supporter of Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (aka FORCE). It’s the only national nonprofit geared toward improving the lives of individuals at risk of hereditary cancer. Very important to me!

I participate in Relay for Life every year, whether it’s walking at an event or donating to someone who is raising money.

The American Kidney Foundation is near and dear to my heart. They were extremely helpful to my family while my grandfather suffered renal failure before his passing in 2012.
