You might have already seen them welcoming you to the community, lurking in the chat, or adding pins to our Pinterest boards, but if you haven’t, allow me to introduce you to the 20SB community managers.
Blog: See Ash Run (I just made the leap to self hosting, so the official launch of the new site is Feb 1st. That being said, I already moved my blog over so feel free to check it out!)
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? I am currently working as a writer for Business Insider in their Entertainment vertical, the Wire. I also spend a lot of time watching hockey (Rangers whoot!) and trying to watch every single Oscar nominated film.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? I like the accountability of it. I’m so use to making these big goals (ie. manage my budget, go to that African dance class, save up to travel South America) but I so often stick to it. Blogging makes me put those goals out there and then stick to it, and that’s one of the reasons I like it so much. The best example of this is my “8 Days of Being Uncomfortable” Project where I tried to do one thing each day of the week which would make me leave my comfort zone…before blogging I never would have tried something like that!
Blog: Sliding Down
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? In my free time I am a designer of many things. My current “big” project is getting my foot in the door of indie video game development.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? My favorite thing about being a blogger is expressing myself in ways that I don’t/won’t IRL; I’m an introvert and spend most of my social energy listening. I also really like going back and revisiting what I write, either pre- or post-published.
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? Well, I enjoy long walks on the beaches of the Michigan during the sunrise… Oh, not like that? Well, since I am new to Chicago, I like to walk around the city and take it all in, the sights, sounds and smells (even the strange smells). I am also getting back into photography and Chicago is a great city for my style. I also spend a lot of time designing for and maintaining a few client websites. You can also find me hanging out on Twitter a lot too.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? Being myself really. I enjoy being able to put myself out there and know that I won’t get judged because of what I have to say. Also, I know that if I am having a tough time, my IRL blogger friends (yeah, they exist) will be there right away. Vlogging is pretty much like an extension to blogging, except your views can see you and how you are reacting with your facial expressions. That is why I actually like to vlog more than blog.
Blog: Moments in Time
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? When I’m not blogging or 20SB, I’m hanging out with my family and friends, checking out my favorite websites, binge on food, being productive and useful. Otherwise, I’m just taking a day at a time and enjoying life like a rock star.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? Being able to engage readers, these strangers, into your lives and sharing it with them online. And then being able to communicate with them and make friends with people across the different countries. Blogging is the new private diary. Sometimes I can write about whatever, and just get comments and realize people are reading what is written. Sometimes it feels weird and dorky when I tell people I blog.
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? I read an embarrassing amount of YA, I love spending time with my nieces because they are the funniest people I know. I paint my nails a lot and watch more TV than is good for my brain. I find that time spent pantless is the best time of all.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? The community. I’ve met a crazy number of bloggers from all over the world thanks to my blog. I love hearing from people and forming friendships and knowing that if I ever have to squee about something I read or saw on TV or ate, there is someone on Twitter there to listen.
When you’re not blogging/browsing 20SB, how do you like to spend your free time? Watching ALL THE SHOWS and doing other things to avoid working on my MA thesis, which is how I should be spending my free time.
What is your favorite thing about being a blogger/vlogger? It has opened a lot of interesting doors for me. I have met some of my closest friends this way. When I moved to Paris, and again when I moved back to LA, I already had friends in those cities, because the Internet is awesome. Also, pop culture blogging means that I get to find other people who share all my endless feels about shows and books, which is loads of fun. Apparently I have a lot of favorite things.
If you see them around the forums, be sure to say hello! And if you ever need help with 20SB, feel free to reach out to any of the CMs or the Executive Team.
