Naive and clueless as I was, I turn to the shopper closest to me– a lady in her forties– and I ask her, “excuse me, do you know where the guasca is?”. She grimaces in disgust and keeps walking, completely ignoring my question. I find this pretty rude, but think nothing of it. “She’s probably in a hurry”, I think to myself. “Most people in this city seem to be in a hurry.”

Over the weekend, 20SB received a bit of an upgrade. While most of the changes are design related, there are a few things we thought our members should be aware of:

Updated Profiles

In addition to an improved homepage experience, we’ve cleaned up our profile pages a bit. There’s now more of a balance between all three columns. But more importantly, we’ve added specific social questions so you can share links to more than just your blog. Just click “Edit” to add your URLs.

Additionally, you might have noticed that profile pictures have increased in size. That’s because we love seeing all of your smiling faces. Too cheesy? Okay, well, we didn’t really have a reason for this; it was a product of balancing the columns. If you want to re-upload and image that isn’t slightly stretched, the new dimensions are 225×225.

The bad news is that if you had customized your profile, it was reverted back to the default design. This was something that we didn’t anticipate, so we apologize for any inconvenience it might have caused.

Promote Yourself on 20SB

You might have seen this in the past, but now we’ve introduced new sizes, special member rates, and an all new section for bloggers to promote themselves on 20SB. You can find the new details here.

Additionally, you might notice some other advertisements on the network from non-members, specifically over the header, in the sidebar, and occasionally (when relevant), in forum threads. We promise not to litter the site with ads, and we’re being careful to ensure that our ad partners align with the community’s goals.

New Tagline

We didn’t have anything against the old one, but we felt that as a community, we’ve outgrown it a bit. Bloggers do so much more than just talk. We listen, support, educate, inspire, and so on. With that in mind, we wanted a tagline that represents 20SB’s current community as well as our goals. We thought that “Learn. Grow. Connect.” summed it up well.

You’ll see this theme throughout the site much more prominently over the upcoming months. We’ve wrapped up the design portion of our overhaul, but there’s still a lot more on our plates. Over the summer, you’ll see changes to our blog (learn), the forums (grow), and groups (connect). Stay tuned for more details on each of those features.

New Badges

To celebrate our new design and motto, we thought you might like some updated badges as well. They’re available in two sizes: 190×160 and 190×225.
